Nicolás Caffo

Senior Associate

Nicolás has extensive expertise in high-value investment and commercial arbitral proceedings. He has built substantive experience advising States and international corporates in the energy, construction, international trade, and food industry sectors in proceedings under distinct procedural rules (including ICSID, PCA, UNCITRAL, VIAC, ICC, and MAE). A dual Italian and Argentinean national, Nicolás is admitted to the Buenos Aires Bar, where he served as Legal Advisor for Corporate Affairs (Relator).

Nicolás currently serves as founder and member of the Executive Committee of the Latin American International Arbitration Course (LAIAC) and as member of the Board of Directors of the Energy Related Arbitration Practitioners (ENERAP). Furthermore, he is a member of the Observatory of International Arbitration and Foreign Investment law of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). In the academic year 2020/2021, Nicolás supported Prof. Gabrielle Kaufmann-Kohler as a teaching assistant in her LL.M and LL.B. arbitration courses at Georgetown University (Washington, D.C.) and the National University of Singapore (Singapore). Finally, as a MIDS Fellow, in 2021 Nicolás supported the organization of the Intensive Courses of the MIDS Online courses.

Career

Prior to joining AKG ADVISORY, Nicolás was part of the international arbitration team at a prominent Argentinian law firm and later at a prominent Austrian law firm. Nicolás also interned with Wilmer Hale (London) and LALIVE (Geneva) and was appointed by the Buenos Aires Bar as Legal Advisor for Corporate Affairs (Relator).
